EMPOWERMENT THROUGH

ECO-TOURISM

Our Mission

Empowering the local Tuke community through sustainable tourism is our core mission. We strive to protect Tuke and its surroundings from the threat of illegal logging by international companies. Fortunately, the local landowners have chosen sustainable tourism over short-term logging gains, safeguarding their home and preserving biodiversity.

Conservation Through Tourism

Tuke is a haven of biodiversity, requiring protection from local and global efforts. Our partnership with the Tuke community promotes activities that educate, conserve, and protect the environment, ecosystems, and natural resources. By exploring scientific, leisure, and adventure tourism opportunities, we aim to establish Tuke as Papua New Guinea's second National Park.

Join Our Cause

Currently, there are very few protected areas in Papua New Guinea, despite the country's rich biodiversity. We seek to increase protection of Tuke's land from deforestation, ensuring a future for its unique creatures. Visit Tuke to support our initiatives and preserve this land of breathtaking biodiversity and vulnerable cultural heritage. Together, we can safeguard Tuke's natural and cultural treasures for generations to come.

OUR GOAL

PROTECT THE NAKANAI RANGES

Papua New Guinea has a total of 71 protected areas, which cover about 3.07% of the country's territory. However, when it comes to national parks specifically, there's only one officially recognized national park, which is the Varirata National Park. Located on the Sogeri Plateau, it's a popular spot for hiking, birdwatching, and picnicking.

It's worth noting that while there's only one official national park, Papua New Guinea has many other protected areas, including wildlife management areas, conservation areas, and game reserves ¹.

Some examples include the Tonda Wildlife Management Area, Crater Mountain Wildlife Management Area, and Lake Kutubu Wildlife Management Area.

Additionally, there are efforts underway to establish more national parks in Papua New Guinea such as the Nakanai Range National Park where Tuke is located.
